August 24, 2018 – Betsey Emerick Selected to Participate in IALF (Illinois Agricultural Leadership Foundation)

We are thrilled to share the good news that, after a thorough application and interview process, Betsey was selected as one of only 30 participants in the IALF Class of 2020.  Recently, Betsey and other members of the newest two-year Illinois Agricultural Leadership Program (IALP) successfully completed the “Joyce Watson Leadership Orientation Seminar” in Bloomington, the beginning of the participants’ journey in the IALF’s signature leadership development program. Program participants gain business acumen, confidence, knowledge of the global view of food and ag, and networking opportunities.

This non-profit (501 c 3) educational program (IALP) focuses on building the skills, knowledge and character of leaders. In addition, the IALF provides Advanced Leadership Training (ALT) seminars for food and agricultural instructors, partners in the food and agriculture space, and advanced training for IALP alumni. The program’s mission is to develop knowledgeable and effective leaders to become policy and decision makers for the agricultural industry.

We want to congratulate Betsey on being selected to participate in this life-changing program. We know that the future of agriculture depends on development of capable leaders today. We look forward to hearing about her adventures as part of this group, and we will all benefit from her sharing what she learns along the way. Watch for her updates here on our Emerick Farms website.

May 2018 – Tim Emerick Memorial Scholarship awarded to Garett McNary

Emerick Farms established a scholarship in honor of our father/husband, Tim Emerick,  who was killed in a semi accident in 2016 while hauling grain for our farm.  He was passionate about agriculture, education and training.  When he won two $2500 grants through Monsanto, he awarded them both to the Vandalia FFA in hopes of inspiring young adults to pursue an education and career in agriculture.  We thought there was no better way to honor his memory than to establish a scholarship in his name to promote agriculture.

Our desire was that the recipient be passionate about agriculture, and we feel that this year’s winner, Garett McNary, is exactly that.  He will attend Kaskaskia College next year, majoring in agriculture.  We extend warm congratulations to Garett, and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

November 7, 2016 – Sanders featured in Missouri Farmer Today

Roger Sanders, Business Development Specialist for Emerick Farms, was featured in an article published in Missouri Farmer Today. Roger, who grew up on a farm in Greenville, IL, joined the Marine Corps and spent a year with a combat unit in Vietnam. That year impacted his life in ways he could never have imagined, and he is grateful for the life lessons he learned. After returning to the University of Illinois and earning his degree, he held several different positions in the ag industry, and finally ended up at Successful Farming magazine as the general manager for field circulation. He went on to earn his Master’s degree and eventually returned to Illinois and came to work for Emerick Farms. We are blessed to have Roger as part of our team, working with landowners and helping us expand our farming operation.
